IS Eyewear is an independent rider owned Canadian brand based out of beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 1997 by world-renowned snowboard icon Devun Walsh. Walsh, unsatisfied with the product available at the time, decided to take matters into his own hands and create more stylish, better-suited eyewear for snowboarders.
“Back then there wasn’t really anyone making snowboard specific goggles. All that was available at the time were “ski-racing” type frames with no peripheral vision which don’t really work for snowboarding. Plus, there wasn’t anything out there that I wanted to wear, goggles were pretty boring at the time. We saw an opportunity to create an eyewear brand dedicated to snowboarders and went for it.” -DW
In 2000 IS Eyewear presented its first blend of uniquely casual yet sophisticated eyewear to the action sports industry during a period in time ruled by sporty wrap frames. Being based in a multicultural city such as Vancouver has set IS Eyewear apart from the beginning as a casual lifestyle brand. Talented designer, Kenta Goto has been responsible for the clean aesthetic appeal of our product line and brand since the birth of our sunglass program.
